Matteo Collina earned his Master's degree in Cultural Heritage Photography from ISIA University of Urbino.

He is an adjunct professor of Cultural Heritage Photography and Scientific Photography at the Fine Art Academy of L’Aquila and he is a Research Fellow at the University of Calabria for studying innovative 3D survey methodologies for the scientific diving. During the studying period for his degree, he collaborated with the ICR (Central Institute for Restoration) for the 3D reconstruction of underwater archeological sites. In 2018 he had his first research fellowship about underwater imaging techniques for the three-dimensional survey of the seabed for the MOLUX project at the University of Calabria. Certified as a technical diver and expert in photography and photogrammetry, Matteo actively took place at several European projects (BLUEMED, SEETHESEA, iMARECULTURE) all over the Mediterranean Sea to document and to 3D reconstruct underwater archeological sites, like the Ninfeo of Punta Epitaffio, the Anforas shipwreck on the Peristera island as well as the Christoforos shipwreck in Skopelos.
